*Tick toc*
Yeah, sure, I’ll probably need a sleeping bag. Check. Alrighty. Oh Yeah! Need to grab a pillow too…
*Tick toc*
Check. Ooo, entertainment… hmm… let me think. Sure. I’ll grab that too. I mean don’ want to regret not bringing something…
*Tick toc*
Huh. Now I’m here. This is strange. Why am I here? Shouldn’t I be somewhere else? This makes no sense…
*Tick toc*
Wait, couldn’t I be spending you more wisely? Like I have a million things that need doing…
*Tick toc*
Would you cut that out? Would you stop for just one moment?! Or maybe allow me to get more out of you…
*Tick toc*
Why do I always feel like I’m wasting you? And what even is wasting you and what’s considered valuing –
*Tick toc*
Stop interrupting everything! Even when I’m enjoying you, you just cut –
*Tick toc*
That’s it! I give up on trying to figure you out! I’m just-
*Tick toc*
…
*Tick toc*
…
*Tick toc*
Would you just slow –
*Tick toc*
down for once –
*Tick toc*
Hey…
*Tick toc*
Why are you –
*Tick toc*
getting faster-
*Tick toc*
…
*Tick toc*
…
*Tick toc*
stop
*Tick toc*
Stop.
*Tick toc*
STOP
*Tick toc*
*Tick toc*
*Tick toc*
*Tick toc*
*BBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING*
This was so well written, it stressed me out! Excellent use of voice, I’m sure a lot of people can relate to this.

I liked how you repeated the phrase “Tic Toc”, but made the fragment more frequent as the poem progressed. It really shows how time seems to become faster and faster as we move on in life. Great post!

AHHH! My heart started racing as we try to beat time with such a powerful epiphany of the inevitability of time and its fleeting nature coupled with a powerful allusion to Native Son.
